Meet Robin:
I hold a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University. I have additional specialized training in the treatment of trauma, play therapy and sandtray therapy. I have worked with children in distress, troubled teens and their families in both private practice and non-profit organizations providing crisis intervention, case management, and therapeutic services.
I utilize play therapy in working with children/teens to aid them in resolving trauma, depression, anxiety/fear, acting out and self-harm behaviors. Play therapy is an evidence based practice that is recommended in achieving optimal growth and development in children/teens.
I also utilize Sandtray therapy, an expressive form of therapy that allows clients to create a visual representation of their inner world and issues using symbols and metaphors. Therapist and client can then focus on core issues by exploring repeated symbols, scenes and themes that have been created.
My work with adults includes psychotherapy that focuses on resolving trauma histories, relationship challenges and developing practical life skills. I approach therapy from an attachment, psychodynamic perspective - identifying primary relationship patterns to aid clients in healing and growth.
I entered this field with a broad educational and work experience background. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Microbiology from California State University Long Beach in 1987. My prior work experience includes over 20 years in the health care field.
I have had the honor to serve as a Celebrate Recovery leader. I led womens support groups for recovery from Codependency and Survivors of Abuse - physical/emotional/sexual/spiritual abuse. I was also a mentor in the Women-to-Women Mentoring Ministry - mentoring women in their faith and life journey. I served for years as a women's small-home group leader and was blessed by the experience.
